The Stables (formerly the Farmhouse) is our family home which also provides high-quality self-catering holiday accommodation available to rent. It was built in the 18th century and was originally the farm stables for 13 cart horses and one stallion. Lying at the heart of our family’s working farm, we are now the third generation of the family to own the house.
It has been beautifully converted into a large self-catering holiday house. With sweeping sea views of the Sound of Mull and the surrounding countryside, this spacious and well-furnished house offers the opportunity for up to 12 people to stay in great comfort.
Sleeping up to 12, and with its own attractive walled garden, this large self-catering holiday house has 6 bedrooms. We have 2 double rooms (one with a superking bed and one with a kingsized bed), 2 twin rooms and 2 bunk rooms. We can also provide a cot and high-chair. There are two bathrooms and a downstairs shower room.
We have a wonderful family kitchen with spectacular views for 40 miles down the Sound of Mull to the hills above Oban and a large dining area. Underfloor heating, granite worktops and an electric Aga ensure that this is a beautifully stylish large room from which to admire the view whatever the weather. Our guests never fail to comment on how much they have loved the kitchen. It is equipped to a very high level including an American style fridge freezer, ample storage space, a ceramic hob, Nespresso coffee and aeroccino machines, a microwave and two dishwashers. French doors lead out of the kitchen onto a lawn and there is garden furniture for eating outside.
Next door, there is a separate large utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, separate oven to complement the Aga and further storage.
The delightful L shaped drawing room has similar outstanding sea views as well as a welcoming open fireplace, television, dvd player and a table tennis table. There is plenty of space for all of the guests to sit and entertain themselves together or in smaller groups with puzzles, games, table tennis, television or just admiring the spectacular views across the Sound of Mull. Some logs and kindling are provided for your arrival. More wood can be bought locally.
A door leads out onto a well maintained sheltered lawn. There is also a boot room with ample space for coats and wellies as well as storage for hats, gloves etc.
The Stables holiday house is heated throughout with light airy rooms. It is furnished to a high standard; Egyptian cotton linen and feather duvets and pillows are provided.
There is a telephone and wi-fi is available. Dogs are welcome. No smoking please.
